2019/2020 saw me engage upon a large building project at home, so I am not taking on any paid work until that is finished!
Hi, I'm Mark and I live in Wigan. I have over 35 years experience in general property repairs and maintenance.
I am a time served Electrical Engineer dating back to my first career, however in 2013 I became a retired Police Officer having completed 30 years service in Lancashire. So what you may ask equips me with the skills and abilities to run my own handyman business, offering to complete your 'to do list' in a timely and efficient manner and to the standard you have the right to expect.
Over the past 35 years I have owned 8 homes, ranging from a new build to two 19th century three story weavers cottages knocked into one. During that time I have fitted 9 kitchens, several bathroom, more light fittings, sockets, switches, taps and shelves than I could begin to count and applied more paint and wallpaper than you are likely to find in a B&Q store.
That said, quantity is by no means an indication of quality so I invite you to click on over to my 'gallery' where you will find some photographs and a written summary that will give you some idea of the quality of my workmanship.
Why did I setup a handyman business?
Wigan Handyman was formed because I have heard so many stories from people who are fed up of paying through the nose for unreliable 'tradesmen' to do small jobs, that truth be known they probobly didn't want to take on in the first place. So, utilising my practical skills learnt doing all those jobs over many years and my organisation skills working in the public sector, I decided to launched Wigan Handyman which is now in its 6th year of business.
What my customers say.
Since I started this business , I have to date attended in excess of 750 appointments, the majority involving a number of separate jobs and I have never had a single complaint.
My Customers have again and again repeated to me stories of tradesman failing to turn up, arriving late, trying to charge hidden fees and talking customers into things they neither want nor need doing. I always turn up at the time agreed, I charge you the fixed fee of £25 per hour, I will agree with you exactly what it is you want doing and I will never try to hard sell you into any other work. Because of this, I have a large number of repeat customers who like my work, trust me in their homes and recommend me to their friends and family.
You won't find me through the 'HiHo' App or on 'trustatrader.com or on any other website that charges a subscription to link customers with me. So you will not find me charging inflated prices to cover the overheads. Instead, each day I write and maintain my own website, I maintain my own accounts and booking system and I answer my own emails and telephone messages, thus I keep my overheads very low and thats reflected in the hourly rate I charge you, the customer.
